It looked like the reincarnation of former presidential spokesperson, Doyin Okupe, all over again.
And for all it’s worth, it may well have been.
While Reuben Abati maintained a bit of class as he dispensed his responsibilities to the ever critical online community (bequeathing the world with the phrase “children of anger”), Special Assistant to former President Jonathan on Public Affairs, Doyin Okupe was the potty-mouthed fella who tweeted first before thinking–the same manner in which he addressed the press.
So, when on Wednesday, Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, put up this tweet, not a few Twitter users felt the ghost of Okupe may not have been exorcised from the nation’s seat of power after all.
If PDP has begun to cry wolf where there was none on INEC chairman, then they should be set for louder lamentations. The wailing wailers.
— Femi Adesina (@FemAdesina) July 1, 2015
The reactions arrived in spades as well and Adesina was upbraided for a less than presidential language.
#WailingWailers trended for as long as Mr. Adesina’s tweet was still up there and the coinage has spawned memes and laughter aplenty.
Can someone kindly take over Femi Adesina's handle, that man is headed somewhere, before he does please someone help at last retweet.. SMH

This Femi Adesina does not understand the magnitude of his job. Why is he trying so hard to be worse than Doyin Okupe?
— Elnathan John (@elnathan) July 1, 2015
I'd never heard of this Femi Adesina or read anything from him before his appointment. Obviously an inside joke among journos

Buhari's PR started as an "epic story" with shades of "Camelot" & Obama 2008
But ground to a shuddering halt with @GarShehu & @FemAdesina.

@FemAdesina Oga, pls don't tweet like this again. I take God beg u

The verdict: Mr. Adesina so desperately needs to up his tweet game. He’s sounded very pedestrian at times and that’s putting it rather mildly.
