Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has said his administration will negotiate with Boko Haram if that will lead to the freedom of the over 219 Chibok Schoolgirls who were kidnapped from their school dormitory more than 450 days ago, corraled into trucks and driven to nowhere by terrorists.
Buhari was speaking on CNN’s Amanpour.
He however said his government will only negotiate with a trusted faction of the insurgent group and one with a face.
Buhari also said he’ll do everything within his powers as Commander-In-Chief to bring the terrorist sect to heel.
On the corruption war, the President of Africa’s largest economy made it clear he wont spare members of his political party if they are found to be corrupt. He said justice must be served in the anti-graft war irrespective of political affiliation.
The President also added that he’ll someday love to see U.S President Barack Obama visit Nigeria. He said he mentioned this bit to his host and will work on a formal invitation.
Buhari is presently on a four-day visit to the United States with security and economic concerns dominating bilateral discussions between both nations.
