They were vandals of fortune who never made it alive.
100 suspected petroleum pipeline vandals were yesterday (Wednesday) roasted to death along the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) pipeline area at Arepo, in Ogun State.
When Ekekeee visited the scene at about 3pm on Wednesday, the inferno was still raging and bodies burnt beyond recognition laid strewn all over the place.
Locals and survivors were also seen trying to evacuate remains from the scene of the blast.
The area was hitherto guarded by the Odua Peoples Congress (OPC) but following the change of guard at the center, the militant sect’s contract wasn’t renewed leaving the Arepo area a free-for-all for oil thieves.
This isn’t the first time Arepo has witnessed a disaster of this magnitude.
