The Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, will head a team of federal lawmakers to Adamawa State on Wednesday for an on-the-spot assessment of the effects of the ongoing Boko Haram insurgency currently ravaging the North-East state, along with Borno and Yobe.
One of the key members of the Ekweremadu delegation to Adamawa State, as announced by Senate President, Bukola Saraki during Tuesday’s plenary, is Senator Ahmad Lawan (APC, Yobe North), who has been Saraki’s nemesis in the tussle for the Senate leadership.
The Deputy Senate Leader, Bala Ibn Na’Allah (APC, Kebbi South), Bashir Marafa (PDP, Taraba Central), Murtala Nyako (APC, Adamawa South), Binta Masi (APC, Adamawa North) and George Sekibo (PDP, Rivers East), make up the other members of the delegation.
The Senate, in a resolution last week Thursday, mandated its leadership to visit the North-East to assess the condition of military forces fighting the Islamist insurgency, as well as the plights of displaced residents in the various camps.
