A Friday bomb attack which claimed 30 traders at a market in Borno has been linked to Boko Haram, according to Sahara Reporters.

A suicide bomber stormed a weekly market at Linmakara in Gwoza local government, killing at least 30 traders while several others were seriously injured.

“A middle aged man pretended to push a cart and detonated it (a bomb) at the centre of the market at noon when trading was going on. We are having network problems in this part of the state, so it’s becomes impossible for us to connect with the rest of world,” SaharaReporters quotes a local vigilance group member from Asikra-Uba, as saying.

Limakara is a remote village in southern part of the state.

Also, the United States has strongly condemned the “horrific and indiscriminate attacks” on the central market and residential neighbourhood of Kerawa in Cameroon, and the attacks on two villages in the Damboa Local Government Area in Borno State, “that killed more than two dozen civilians.

In a statement on Friday, the US State Department said, “We extend our condolences to the families and loved ones of all those killed, and hope for the speedy recovery of those injured. Boko Haram’s indiscriminate targeting of men, women and children continues to highlight the group’s senseless brutality. We remain committed to working closely with Cameroon, Nigeria, and the other Lake Chad Basin countries to defeat Boko Haram.”
