Chelsea gaffer Jose Mourinho is seeking to end his age-long feud with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, even if it means looking for the french man and shaking his hands behind the scenes.

After the community shield encounter between both sides in which Arsenal emerged the winner, Mourinho stood at the end of the stairs, pumping hands with all members of the Arsenal team. He was however snubbed by Wenger who was the last man to descend the stairs.

The Daily Mail understands that Mourinho is determined to offer a hand of friendship to his Arsenal counterpart on Saturday, not necessarily in the full glare of the TV cameras but possibly in a private room before the game.

Mourinho said of that community shield snub scenario: “I am happy you describe what happened in the correct way. That’s what I did. I respond for my action and others respond for their action.”

The Mourinho/Wenger feud dates back to Mourinho’s first spell in charge of Chelsea when he branded Wenger a “voyeur.”

Last season, Mourinho ratcheted his animosity towards Wenger by tagging him a “Specialist in failure”.

The two-some were involved in a touch-line physical confrontation last season as well.
