The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has ruled that laid down regulations were adhered to in the nomination of Dino Melaye as candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the last National Assembly elections in Kogi West senatorial district.
Melaye’s eligibility to contest for the parliamentary seat of his senatorial district has been a subject of legal tussle for quite some time now.
INEC, in its report on the primary held on December 8, 2014, signed by INEC monitor for APC, Kogi West senatorial primary, Shehu Bala Saggi, indicated that Melaye won the primary held at the Township Stadium, Kabba, with 2,077 votes against Bidemi Odeyemi, who polled 326 votes.
“Arising from the results, Hon. Dino Melaye was returned as the elected candidate of the APC for Kogi West Senatorial elections,” INEC said in its report, a certified true copy of which was obtained yesterday.
