Mark Amaza: Buhari insults us each time he first details his plans to the foreign press

President Buhari seems to have this rather bad habit of first setting a deadline for himself or making important announcements either while on a foreign trip or to the foreign media, then struggling to meet it.

He said he will declare assets within 100 days, then did that only 2 days to the end of the period.

Said he will appoint ministers in September in an op-ed in Washington Post. Waited until the very last day to submit list to NASS.

Waited until interview in the US before letting us know he will be his own Minister for Petroleum Resources.

First, it is a tad insulting that he won’t tell Nigerians what his plans are, but he will tell foreign media or audiences. They are more important than us now?

Secondly, why set deadlines for yourself that you will struggle to meet? Or do we blame his media team now?

Anyway, this waiting better be worth it. He shouldn’t go fill the list with uninspiring names.

PS:

There are some rumors around town that my name is on the list of ministerial nominees submitted to the National Assembly. However, I can neither confirm nor deny if indeed my name is on the list.

Guess we all have to wait until Tuesday to find out.
