The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria on Sunday advanced to the semis of the FIFA U-17 world cup in Chile after defeating their counterparts from Brazil 3-0.

The game played at the Estadio Sausalito in Vina del Mar stadium, saw the Eaglets in control for most of the game.

The defending champions scored all three goals in a six-minute spell that left their opponents stunned, dazed and unable to recover.

Once again striker Victor Osimhen proved how prolific he is by heading Nigeria into the lead in the 29th minute to bring his tally in the competition to eight; coolly converting a cross from Zakari.

Moments later, he turned provider after holding off the Brazilians in the defence and flicking an overhead pass to Michael who flashed a scissor-kick past the on-looking Brazilian goalie. Three minutes later, a curling Anumudu shot outside the box was spilled by the Brazilian keeper for Nigeria’s third goal of the match.

After the break, the Brazilians pushed men forward but the Eaglets held their nerves and came even closer on several occasions to add to the tally. Brazil’s best chance of the game came through a free kick from Evander which was parried to the cross bar by the in-form Nigerian keeper.

The Eaglets will meet either Ecuador or Mexico on Thursday in the semi-final and on this form, expect the boys from Nigeria to bring the top prize home.
