Coach of Nigeria’s Under-17 side, Emmanuel Amuneke, has said keeping the ball and hitting at the right moments was key to putting their Brazilian opponents to the sword in a memorable quarter final encounter.
The Eaglets ran away 3 nil winners and now await the winners of the encounter between Ecuador and Mexico for Thursday’s semi –final game.
The boys from Nigeria have won fans over as the tournament has progressed with their crisp passing, slick movement, work rate and goal attempts and the gaffer has said those qualities are crucial if his team are to retain the trophy.
“For us, to beat Brazil is a big confidence boost. We still have a long way to the title, though,” Amuneke said.
He added that “It is not like we scored three goals and that was it. Before that, our side had 15 very good minutes, when they moved the ball around as we knew they could,” said the former Barcelona star.
“You have to give credit to my kids, who were tranquil and kept their cool to deal with the Brazil pressure and then scored at the right time”.
