The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said Chief Raymond Dokpesi who two days ago apologized profusely to Nigerians on the PDP’s behalf and who said fielding Jonathan for the 2015 ballot was a mistake by the party, was speaking for himself and himself only.

PDP National Publicity Secretary Olisa Metuh told journalists in Abuja on Wednesday that since Dokpesi isn’t a member of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) nor the National Working Committee (NWC), his utterances should be viewed as personal.
Asked whether the party regretted putting Jonathan’s name on the ballot in a presidential contest that went south for his party, Metuh said: “How can you regret a decision taken when everyone was there, the NWC, NEC and the national caucus?
“What are we talking about? Everybody was conscious of the decision; nobody was coerced into supporting the position.”
Metuh said now is not the time to embark on blame games because the party has bigger fish to fry.
“We are repositioning our party. What we should do is to join hands to reposition PDP based on Sen. Ike Ekweremadu’s report to reclaim the party’s lost glory. This is what is expected of us all at this time,’’ Mr. Metuh said.
We wonder if Dokpesi would be disciplined or given a mouth rap for his comments….
