Russia and Turkey are heading for an inevitable showdown after a Russian fighter jet was downed by Turkey over violation of its airspace.
Russia has denied it violated Turkish airspace and said it was flying over Syrian airspace.
Russian Prime Minister Vladmir Putin has called the downing of the jet a stab in the back.
Now, Russia has moved to ban food imports from Turkey saying Turkish goods do not meet its standards.
Both nations are big trading partners with Turkey receiving more than 60 percent of its imports; including gas supplies, from Russia.
Moscow’s move to tighten food controls from Turkey is the latest in a tension-soaked diplomatic row between both countries.
