It’s official: APC has named Yahaya Bello as Audu’s replacement for the Kogi governorship contest

Alhaji Yahaya Bello will continue from where Abubakar Audu left off in next Saturday’s supplementary vote, the All Progressives Congress (APC) announced on Monday from its National Secretariat in Abuja.

The National Working Committee of the ruling party opted for Bello, who was the runner-up to Audu in the Kogi APC governorship primaries.

APC Chairman John Odigie-Oyegun and the National Working Committee (NWC) had been locked in a meeting for 3 hours before arriving at the decision. The APC chairman urged leaders and stakeholders to accept the decision of the party.

We had reported earlier that a fight had broken out before the meeting between Abiodun Faleke and Yahaya Bello’s supporters.

It was also announced that James Faleke, who was the late Audu’s running mate, was selected as Bello’s running mate but he flatly turned down the offer like he has done all week in three separate letters.
