Senate Minority leader, Godswill Akpabio, has said a bill in Nigeria’s parliament seeking to gag social media voices, won’t fly.
The bill passed through a second reading on the floor of the senate on Wednesday and has sparked outrage among Nigeria’s social media users; with thousands calling for the recall of the Senator who sponsored it all.
“We’ll not be in the Senate and watch such a Bill fly. We are committed to deepening democracy and democratic values”, former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Akpabio, said via his Twitter account.
