On Saturday at about 3am, a tanker fully laden with petrol was involved in an accident, spilled its content onto the road, a fire ensued and some four other buses parked under the Ojuelegba bridge were consumed in the inferno.
Eyewitnesses say homes along the canal were burnt as well. There were no casualties but the entire stretch of Western Avenue and Surulere, down to Ikorodu Road and Yaba has been on lock down no thanks to traffic as personnel try to divert traffic away from the scene of the accident and inferno.
Latest report says another tanker full of petrol caught flames at about 11am at the same spot; meaning that Ojuelegba witnessed two tanker explosions in one day.
The canal encircling Ojuelegba is reportedly drenched in petrol, sparking fears of more explosions.
You may want to avoid that axis of town the entire week ahead.
