The APC has said it is weighing its options with regard to Hon James Abiodun Faleke who has vowed not to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Kogi Governor-elect Yahaya Bello on January 27, 2016 even as Bello’s Deputy-elect.
Faleke has been aggrieved for not getting the governorship ticket upon the passing of Abubakar Audu, even though he was the latter’s running mate. He has since taken his grievances to court.
“On the Faleke issue, it is rather a straightforward and easy issue. We have replaced a governorship candidate. If the need arises and subject to what the law says, we will also get a deputy governorship candidate but we will cross those bridges as they arise but they have not arisen yet”, APC national chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun told the press during a chat on Wednesday.
The party chairman added that the APC isn’t losing sleep over the development.
“We are not worried, the Kogi situation is still evolving and we will cross every bridge as we get to it. We’ll wait and see who does what and work out answers that meet each situation.
“We have thought the process through and we have won the election in Kogi. For us in APC, Kogi is a settled issue, if you want to go to the tribunal, we’ll meet you there, if you want to go to court, we’ll meet you there.
“Kogi is basically resolved, thank God, in favour of the APC.
“Very unfortunate, very tragic events occurred and the entire polity had to find solutions to problems which detailed as the constitution did not envisage and the in the next few weeks, depending on who goes to court or who doesn’t, we will know the boundaries of the law in respect of these issues”, he added.
