Re-elected Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has attributed his victory at the ballot to God.
Speaking on ChannelsTV News at 10, Dickson said his victory is an affirmation of the confidence reposed in him by the people of the State.
“First of all we are grateful to the people of Bayelsa for their abiding loyalty in me and the party. I am a man of faith and I beleive that all power comes from God.
“I want to appreciate the almighty God who has made this possible”.
Dickson said his only fear going into the elections was the federal might.
“The challenge was never from the people. My party is now in opposition at the center. I’m a man in office and I have a direct connection with the people of this State. I was confident of victory from the outset”.
Dickson was also asked to comment on the APC’s stance that the electoral umpire erred by declaring him winner; given the difference between the winner, the second placed candidate and the number of cancelled votes.
“I don’t respond to political propaganda. Election has been won and lost”, he said, irritated.
The Governor and Governor-elect commended the electoral umpire for its showing in the election.
“INEC tried…there were lapses here and there. INEC needs the support of all to improve on the card reader. Card reader is the way to go. Our nation made the right investment with the card reader and INEC should be supported”.
He also spoke on violence and hoodlums during the elections. Homes were torched, scores were injured and gunshots were the main staple as Bayelsans trooped out to vote.
“I want to work with the federal government to ensure peace returns to Bayelsa after the election”, said Dickson.
