A section of the Christ Embassy church in Oregun, Ikeja area of Lagos was gutted by fire late on Wednesday, destroying expensive equipment of the church.
Eyewitnesses say the fire was caused by an electrical surge in the building.
There was also a fire incident in the Alaba market area of Lagos on the same day, coming just a week after a fire razed shops in the country’s foremost electronic market.
It took the spirited efforts of the fire service to contain the inferno in both instances.
The fire fighters were able to put out the fire at Christ Embassy after thirty minutes. Eyewitnesses say the entire church was in danger of going up in flames if the personnel of the Lagos fire service hadn’t arrived on time.
