The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has written a letter of invitation to former PDP Presidential campaign organization Spokesperson, Femi Fani-Kayode.
On Thursday, the former aviation minister told Channels Television he’d prefer to be invited to help the EFCC in its investigation than for his name to be bandied around in the dailies for committing no crime.
The EFCC has heeded that call.
On Friday, the anti-graft agency asked Fani-kayode to report to their Abuja office on the morning of May 9th (Monday) for a discussion. Dated 6th May 2016, the letter was signed by one Mr. Mohammed Umar Abba on behalf of the Acting EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu.
The letter of invitation was delivered to Fani-Kayode’s Abuja home and was responded to promptly through his lawyers who assured the EFCC that their client would make himself available on Monday morning to assist in their investigations.
Fani Kayode is being investigated for receiving N840m from the Director of Finance, Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation, Senator Nenadi Usman. The funds, part of a tranche of election cash disbursed to PDP loyalists and chieftains at the time, allegedly came from the office of the NSA and was siphoned from the central bank vaults.
