We spoke too soon perhaps.
Some of the contestants in the presidential election of the Nigeria Labour Congress have protested against the emergence of Ayba Wabba, the President of the Medical and Health Workers Union and immediate past Treasurer of the NLC as the union’s new boss.
The election was held in the wee hours of Saturday, March 14 at the Eagle Square, in Abuja.
The disgruntled leaders are presently in a crucial meeting to determine the next line of actions.
It is believed that the leaders may decide to withhold allegiance to NLC until their grievances are addressed.
The labour leaders that rejected the results includes the Comrade Joe Ajaero of the National Union of Electricity Employees, (NUEE), two Deputy Presidential candidates, Comrades Isa Aremu and Igwe Achese alongside members of their unions.
