The court of appeal today upheld the ruling of James Tsoho of the federal high court, Abuja, denying Nnamdi Kanu bail.
The leader of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) had approached the appeal court through his counsel Chuks Muoma (SAN) with the application that the lower court erred in law by denying him bail.
But the appeal court ruled on Wednesday that the lower court was right and Kanu, wrong.
“The lower court has the power to exercise its discretion on the matter and the exercise of such discretion by the trial judge did not amount to denial of fair hearing to the defendants,” a three man panel of the Appeal court led by Abdul Aboki, held.
“The issues are resolved against the appellants. Ruling of the trial court is hereby upheld.”
Kanu is being tried on a six-count charge of treasonable felony.
