So, at a federal government town-hall event in the south of Nigeria recently, transport minister Rotimi Amaechi and petroleum resources minister Ibe Kachikwu, had a disagreement over the maritime university in Okerenkeko, Delta State.
Amaechi was of the view that getting back to work on the institution will cost way too much, given the paucity of funds at the federal level. In Amaechi’s view, getting back to work on the institution will depend on recovery of loot by the anti-graft agency. Not true, says Kachikwu.
“First let me say I disagree with the minister of transport on the Okerenkeko university”, Kachikwu said, as cold as you’d like. “Any facility that is placed in the south south, we should work towards developing it. I don’t care the circumstances under which we are placed….”
