Nnamdi Nwokocha-Ahaiwe, the Abuja based lawyer, has withdrawn his suit challenging President Muhammadu Buhari for doctoring his West African Senior Certificate (WASC). The suit was premised on the framework that Buhari wasn’t qualified to contest the 2015 presidential election because he didn’t meet the academic qualification to do so.
Nwokocha had also alleged that Buhari didn’t sit for the examination in 1961 like he had claimed.
A dozen Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) led by Wale Olanipekun had immediately queued behind the president to argue his case. Others were Femi Falana, Akin Olujinmi, Kola Awodein, Muiz Banire, Taiwo Osipitan, Oluwarotimi Akerodolu etc.
It’s unclear at this point why the suit was withdrawn butJustice Adeniyi Ademola of the federal high court, Abuja, delivering a ruling on Thursday, held that by “section 50(2) of the federal high court civil procedure rules the matter is hereby struck out”.
