Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose has said supporting Ali Modu Sheriff to emerge PDP chairman will rank as one of his biggest mistakes.
Fayose made this known when former DAAR communications chairman, Raymond Dokpesi, paid him a visit to declare his bid to become the next chairman of the opposition party. Dokpesi has been visiting PDP chieftains in the south west to canvas support for his chairmanship ambition. But he’s got Bode George to contend with at this time, too.
Fayose was one of Sheriff’s biggest advocates just before the former Borno governor nicked the post. But Sheriff has turned into one of the most hated men within the PDP as interim chairman, dragging the party to court and displaying a sit-tight syndrome.
“I must tell you that I have learnt my lessons from my past experience. I will not openly identify or campaign for a candidate any longer. As part of our great party in Ekiti, I ‘m assuring you that I do not have a personal candidate and God knows I have not spoken to my people about any candidate”, Fayose bemoaned.
“We will allow God to choose for us this time by ensuring that all aspirants have a level-playing ground.
“I have learnt my lessons on Ali Modu Sheriff and I take full responsibility for the consequences. Imagine, if we had allowed him to get there, with the way he is now behaving, it would have been worse than this,” Fayose added.
