Wife of the president Aisha Buhari, has pointed to the aftermath of the election loss by the PDP in 2015 as reason for Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose’s continuous fusillade of attacks against her person.
Ms Buhari once engaged the governor in a Twitter battle, before hurriedly deleting the tweets. Fayose also vowed that Ms Buhari can’t set foot in the United States where the enforcement authorities will be waiting for her for fraud perpetrated under the Halliburton scam. But Ms Buhari checked into Washington DC this week, where she’ll be spending a week.
In a chat with the VOA, Ms Buhari said Fayose couldn’t stop abusing her after the election. Fayose had initiated a full scale media and propaganda war against the Buharis during a bitter electioneering season.
“All these started during the campaign period. He was not the only who was abusing me, others did that, but after the election, which Allah made us to win, and they to lose, everybody kept quiet, but Fayose kept on abusing people and eventually he started abusing me too,” she said.
“I don’t know those places and people he mentioned”, she said of the Halliburton scam.
Ms Buhari also added that God made her husband’s election victory possible and urged Fayose to deal with it. She has since initiated legal proceedings against Fayose on account of the allegations and told the VOA, she’ll continue to fight the governor in court.
“I never chose myself for this post, but God chose it for me. I am not even the one who contested election.
“I have never abused him; I don’t even know him as a person. How can he be accusing me of what I have no idea of? I won’t let this go.”
