President Jonathan has called for loads of patience from Nigerians as votes trickle in from across the country in the wake of the weekend’s general elections.
The President is up against closest challenger, Muhammadu Buhari of the APC as he fights to keep his seat.
Anxiety has gripped the citizenry and on Sunday, exasperated Nigerians lamented the slow pace of the electoral umpire in getting the tallied votes across the information channels.
The word from Aso Villa? Take a chill pill and be calm.
“We waited patiently to vote in these elections, now I want to urge all Nigerians to also wait patiently for the Independent National Electoral Commission to collate and announce results”, President Jonathan wrote on his Facebook page.
He added that it was imperative that law and order be maintained.
“We must ensure that we do not get involved in acts that breach our peaceful co-existence that we patriotically demonstrated during the elections.
“May God bless Nigeria.”
