The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Abia, Dr. Alex Otti, has condoled with the family of Sen. Uche Chukwumerije, who died on Sunday, describing him as a great Nigerian.

In a statement he issued in Umuahia on Monday, Otti described Chukwumerije’s death as a huge loss to Abia, Ndigbo and Nigeria as a whole.

He stated that with the death of Chukwumerije, Ndigbo have lost a vibrant, fearless, outspoken, dogged and veteran politician, whose views on national issues were highly respected.

He further stated that during his life time, Chukwumerije loved and fought for the unity and well-being of Ndigbo, saying that his death has denied the South east a voice in the nation’s polity.

The APGA governorship candidate remarked that while in the senate, Chukwumerije advanced the cause of the Igbo nation and stood against the continued marginalization of the people in the country.

He described the late senator as an eminent Nigerian, who believed in a united and indivisible Nigeria founded on the principle of equity, justice and fairness.

He wished the soul of the distinguished senator eternal repose and urged the bereaved family, relations and friends as well as the good people of Abia and Nigeria to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.
