The #BringBackOurGirls movement has begun its countdown (monitoring) initiative towards the rescue of the over 219 Chibok schoolgirls still held up in Boko Haram’s lair.
According to a spokesperson for the group, the countdown initiative is meant to encourage Nigerians to keep tabs with the six-week military offensive against the insurgents recently announced by the federal government. The Nigerian government is working in cahoots with regional forces to smoke out the terrorists in time for the general elections rescheduled for March 28 and April 11.
The countdown is both a monitoring and a motivating tool for engagement with citizens, the spokesperson for the group said.
