The clash between indigent transporters and Hausa traders in Ekiti State has led to the torching of the Oja-Oba market in Ado-Ekiti the State capital. A few other property in the capital were also torched in the early hours of Friday, according to our correspondents in the State.
Governor Ayo Fayose had on Thursday imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew to prevent the crisis from escalating but that appeared to have been defied given this morning’s razing of property.
Fayose has described the situation in the State as “tense”, although he also added that security has been beefed up around the State to contain the crisis.
