Adamawa State has to be another name for Oliver Twist.
The Head of Service of the state, Barrister Musa Kaibo, disclosed to journalists on Tuesday that the bail-out cash of N2.3 billion released by the Federal Government to the state was not enough to address all the outstanding entitlements of the civil servants; including the emoluments of pensioners.
To put Kaibo’s angst in context, he explained that the out-standing entitlements of all the civil servants, including pensions and gratuities of retirees, stood at N18 billion. Which makes N2.3bn a drop in the ocean, said the good ol’ barrister.
Kaibo however said the entitlements of civil servants currently stood at N 1.6 billion. He added that he has received the governor’s assurance that all outstanding entitlements including leave grants, promotion allowances, yearly increment and other sundry entitlements, will be paid as soon as possible.
Entitlement mentality? You wager!
