“When they called us on Monday night, they said they could only reduce the ransom to N90 million, but we cannot afford that”, said a distraught aide to abducted Afenifere chieftain, Olu Falae.

Falae was forcibly kidnapped on his farm in Ilado, Ondo State by persons suspected to be nomadic Fulani herdsmen.

Moments after the kidnap, the abductors made contact with his family, asking for N100m. By Tuesday, they had chalked off N10m from the table.

“We begged them to take N2million but they rejected it; they said they would call us back today but as at this moment, they have not called,” one source who spoke to The Nation, said.

Negotiations are still ongoing and the police has since swam into action; while assuring the Falaes that the SDP National Chairman will be rescued alive.
