Vice president Yemi Osinbajo presided over two top security meetings at the presidential villa, Monday, as vandals continue to hit oil installations in the niger delta.

President Muhammadu Buhari has been in his home town of Katsina from where he has issued orders to the military to crack down on the militants.

A new group known as the Niger Delta Avengers has held the country to ransom, blowing up Shell and Chevron gas facilities in Forcados and Escravos; and worsening Nigeria’s economic woes in the process.

Osinbajo’s first meeting began around 4pm and had minister of state for petroleum Ibe Kachikwu, military chiefs, representatives of the oil firms and Bayelsa governor Seriake Dickson in attendance.

The second meeting began shortly after the first and lasted well into the night. Some persons who attended the first meeting were at the second.

Power supply has gone from bad to worse since the recent attacks.
