Fresh out of detention, former spokesperson of the Goodluck/Sambo presidential campaign, Femi Fani Kayode says he’s been victimized for being a staunch critic of the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

Fani-Kayode spent 67 days in Ikoyi prison from where he was prosecuted for receiving monies alleged to have come from funds earmarked to procure arms for the military, but which was diverted into private pockets, according to law enforcement agencies.

Fani-Kayode was granted a N250 million bail on July 4, but got his release only recently after meeting bail conditions. He’s kept mum since his release, but on Friday, the usually garrulous former aviation minister re-emerged.

“I give thanks to God that I am free after 67 days in detention,” Fani-Kayode said in a statement. “I thank my wife, lawyers, children and friends for all their support.

“This was the worst experience of my life but God was with me all the way. I suffered immeasurably but I count it all as joy.  I am innocent of all charges and I look forward to defending myself vigorously in court”.

He also stated he’s only being victimized by the Buhari led federal government because of his political convictions.

“These charges are politically motivated and I have been severely punished for my political views and criticisms of the government,” Fani-Kayode said.
